GUS: highest salary is earned in Krakow
In the first half of 2024, Kraków reported the highest average gross salary in Poland at PLN 10,126.49, a 10.9% increase from the previous year. However, when comparing regions, the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, which includes Warsaw, had the highest average salary at PLN 9,296.77. In Warsaw, the average gross salary was PLN 9,673.42, about PLN 453 less than in Kraków.
Regional disparities are notable; for instance, salaries in Kraków are PLN 1,689.21 higher than the regional average in Małopolska. Conversely, in Kielce and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, the salary difference is minimal.
Overall, salaries are generally higher in major cities, but some regions like Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, and Podlaskie have higher regional averages compared to their capitals due to industrial employment. Białystok has the lowest average gross salary at PLN 6,716.33.
