Foreign investors increased their holdings of Polish government bonds in December by PLN 4.6 billion, bringing the total to PLN 174.3 billion, according to the Ministerstwo Finansów. Total domestic Treasury debt rose by PLN 24.3 billion to PLN 1,470.7 billion, driven by higher exposure from all major investor groups. Bank holdings, including those of the Narodowy Bank Polski, grew by PLN 6.5 billion, while domestic non-bank investors added PLN 13.2 billion.

As a result, banks’ share of domestic government debt fell slightly to 51.6 percent, non-bank investors’ share increased to 36.6 percent, and foreign investors’ share rose to 11.8 percent, though it remains below the level recorded a year earlier.
