Latvia suspends local border traffic agreement with Russia

Latvian authorities have decided to suspend from 1 August the agreement on simplified border crossing for Russian citizens living in border regions, Radio Svoboda reported on Monday.
The Riga authorities mentioned that Russia had closed the Latvian consulate in Pskov that was issuing border crossing permits to Russians.
Radio Svoboda recalls that the local border traffic agreement between Russia and Latvia had been in place since 2010.
