LNG Terminal to be expanded with help of EU funds

Polskie LNG, a company belonging to the Gaz-System capital group, has signed an agreement for the co-financing with EU funds of the expansion of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście. The maximum amount of support from the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment is PLN 553 million (€128 million).
The terminal is a tool ensuring the security of gas supplies to Poland and the Baltic States, through the diversification and promotion of new transport routes in the region, said the Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski.
The expansion of the LNG Terminal is part of the so-called North Gate concept, which also includes the Baltic Pipe project, a scheme that is scheduled to be completed in 2022 and which will see gas from fields on the Norwegian continental shelf flowing to Poland.
