Min Fin: billions will be spent on housing construction and renovations
Poland’s government plans to contract the construction and renovation of 18,000 apartments in 2026, Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański announced. Combined with funding from 2024 and 2025, the government expects to support 35,000 housing units over three years. The 2026 budget allocates PLN 6.7 billion for housing, rising to PLN 8.7 billion when funds from the National Recovery Plan are included. According to the minister, investment in housing has a strong economic effect, with every PLN 1 spent generating about PLN 2.5 in GDP.
The program will cover social housing and support families caught in the “rent gap,” estimated at about 4 million households that cannot afford home ownership but do not qualify for social housing.
