NCBR and Polish lawyers among awarded by the European Innovation Council

The European Innovation Council (EIC) has announced this year's winners of innovation awards, which have been awarded to the cities of Dortmund and Vantaa, as well as four top innovative women and three public procurement innovators. Dortmund, Germany, became the European Capital of Innovation in 2021, winning a cash prize of € 1,000,000. The European City of Innovation Development was awarded to the City of Vantaa in Finland, which will receive EUR 500,000.

In terms of public procurement, Poles were among the winners. The National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) came second in the category of public procurement strategy for innovation. The winner was the Galician Health Service (SERGAS) from Spain. In the procurement leadership category, the first place was taken by lawyers from Italy, but the second place was taken by Poles - Mateusz Stanczyk and Monika Adamczak. In the societal challenges category, the Dutch Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg and the International Horizontal Scanning Initiative (Belgium) took first and second place, respectively.
