New Center of Łódź entering decisive phase of development
New Centre of Łódź is entering a decisive phase of development, transforming a once degraded area into a modern mixed use district. The turning point was the construction of the underground Łódź Fabryczna railway station, which freed large space in the city centre and enabled creation of a new urban area. The project is designed as a “complete district” combining housing, offices, culture, education and green spaces within walking distance. About 3,600 apartments are planned and the area could eventually house up to 10,000 residents.
Around 90,000 sqm of office space already provides potential for 7,000 jobs. With projects such as the cross city rail tunnel and high speed rail connections, the district is expected to become one of Poland’s key transport hubs.
