Nowy Targ first in the Ranking of the Polish Smog Alert
The Polish Smog Alert (PAS) publishes a list of the most polluted towns in Poland every year. Usually, Kraków tops the list of the most polluted cities, but not this time. Nowy Targ came first. Among the leaders, there are also ... health resorts, incl. Goczałkowice-Zdrój and Rabka-Zdrój.
"Since we started analyzing the results of the measurements and publishing rankings of smog leaders, there has not been a situation in which one city won in all categories. This situation has changed in the latest ranking. and the annual concentration of the carcinogenic benzo (a) pyrene (BAP) elevated Nowy Targ in Podhale to the position of the undisputed smog leader," Piotr Siergiej, PAS spokesman, said.
Kraków even is not on the list. Behind Nowy Targ, the infamous ranking includes Nowa Ruda, Pszczyna, Sucha Beskidzka and Nowy Sącz.
