The issue of reducing carbon dioxide emissions is perceived as important by 85 percent of respondents with nearly 1,300 companies worldwide surveyed by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). However, only 11 percent of them manage to implement plans in this regard.
According to the consulting company, proper measurement of progress in this area can help in the implementation of plans in the field of CO2 reduction. For example, using artificial intelligence (AI).
“Our research shows that companies want to reduce CO2 and it is an important topic for them. We can see the awareness of this problem and the commitments that have been made in this area in recent years. In fact, it is very difficult for companies to adhere to and stick to what they have committed to,” Sylvain Duranton, head of BCG Gamma, BCG's advanced data science unit, said.
In his opinion, companies are primarily unable to properly measure their liabilities.
"Currently, only 9 percent of companies in the world fully measure their emissions," Duranton added.
