Patriots for Poland
Poland says it is being seriously considered by the United States as a production base for missiles used in Patriot air-defence systems, a move that would deepen Warsaw’s integration into Western defence supply chains. Defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said discussions also cover HIMARS missiles and the servicing of Apache and Black Hawk helicopters in Poland.
The announcement came during meetings in Ottawa tied to growing NATO defence cooperation. For investors and manufacturers, the significance extends beyond security policy. Poland is increasingly positioning itself as a regional industrial platform for defence production as European governments ramp up military spending following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The potential localisation of advanced weapons manufacturing could bring technology transfer, skilled jobs and long-term contracts to the country’s rapidly expanding defence sector.
