PKO BP focusing on green loans, want 20% in portfolio

PKO Bank Polski aims for at least 20% of its total loan portfolio to support green and energy transition projects under its new three-year strategy, says Vice President Krzysztof Dresler. The bank is particularly focused on financing energy storage to ensure stable renewable power supplies for data centers and AI infrastructure, which require uninterrupted electricity. PKO emphasizes the importance of local content in projects, linking domestic supply chains to higher financing quality, security, and scalability.
Dresler notes that reducing import dependence for key components like battery cells strengthens resilience. The bank systematically tracks its progress and expects to meet its targets while supporting Poland’s broader energy transformation and industrial development.
