In February, Poland’s ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) became the latest political group in the country to join the social media platform TikTok to attract young voters as parliamentary elections are approaching.

The Chancellery of the Prime Minister plans to spend about PLN 3 million on information campaigns, including on TikTok. Poland’s loyalty to the platform has remained intact even after the European Commission ordered staff to remove the TikTok app from their phones and corporate devices, citing security reasons.

The Commission says it has around 32,000 permanent and contract employees, and they must remove the app no later than March 15. In response, Poland requested to justify the decision.
