According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), at the end of 2017, 1.2 million people in Poland were self-employed, an increase of 4.3 percent y/y. According to Eurostat data, Poles are in third place in Europe in terms of self-employment. Only Greece and Italy are ahead of the country. In Poland, self-employment is chosen by 18 percent of people. In Greece and Italy, the figures stand at 30 percent and 22 percent respectively. The EU average is 14 percent. Throughout the EU, over 30 million people aged between 15 and 74 are self-employed.
