Poland took 41st place among 180 countries in the world in the latest corruption perception ranking prepared by the non-governmental organization Transparency International.
In total, 10 EU countries are worse than us. Cyprus and Cape Verde were in exactly the same position (with a score of 58 out of 100).
For Poland, this result means a decline from position 36, which our country took in last year's edition of the ranking.
Transparency International emphasized that this decline was the result of reforms in the judicial systems. According to the organization, these reforms undermine judicial independence and, as a result, hamper the resolution of high-level corruption cases.
