Health Minister Adam Niedzielski announced some national restrictions in connection with the appearance of a new variant of the coronavirus, Omikron. Vaccinated people will be excluded from the new regulations.
Gastronomy, hotels, and cultural centers are ordered to reduce their occupancy from 75 percent to 50 percent. There is a limit of up to 100 people for the gathering and celebration. Finally, sports events outside of sports facilities are to be reduced from 500 to 250 people.
The restrictions will also apply to protection against a new variant from abroad. The government has banned flights to seven African countries of particular risk, including Botswana. People returning from these countries will have a 14-day quarantine without the possibility of release from it. For people traveling to Poland from outside the Schengen area, it will also be extended to 14 days, but with possible release after the 8th day and the PCR test.
The regulations will apply from December 1 to December 17 inclusive.
