Poland is food producing power in EU, must do more than mass produce
Poland’s food-processing industry increased real sold production by 5.4% y/y in 2025, more than twice the growth rate of manufacturing overall. The sector accounts for about 21% of Poland’s manufacturing output and remains strongly export-oriented. Agri-food exports reached €58.4 bn in 2025, generating a €19.8 bn trade surplus. However, future growth will depend less on production volume and more on higher-value products, innovation, automation, energy efficiency, and stronger brands.
Although cost pressures have eased since 2022–2023, labor, raw-material, and regulatory expenses remain high. Companies investing in convenience foods, functional products, clean-label goods, and premium private labels are expected to gain the strongest competitive advantage.
