Poland has fallen to the last place in the EU in the Energy Transition Index. Although Poland jumped from 77th place in 2019 to 69th among 115 surveyed countries, it was overtaken by Bulgaria at the same time, last year it was the last among European countries in the ranking.
As the economists of the Polish Institute of Economics (PIE) explain, the Energy Transition Index (ETI) measures two aspects of transformation – the current state (performance system) and transformation readiness (transition readiness).
The current state is analyzed on the basis of three elements so-called energy triangle: economic development, energy security and environmental sustainability.
Readiness for transformation is measured more multidimensional and consists of, among others capital and investments, regulations and political determination of energy system structures.
