The Polish national team lost to Slovakia 1:2 in the opening match of Euro 2020. Our rivals took the lead in the 18th minute, when after Robert Mak's shot, the ball first rebounded from the post and then from Wojciech Szczęsny's back, falling into the goal.
Although Karol Linetty tied it up in the 46th minute, Milan Skriniar scored the winning goal for the Slovaks 23 minutes later. After Marek Hamsik's cross from the corner kick, the ball fell to the feet of the defender from Inter Milan, who did not give Szczesny a chance with a strong shot.
The defeat with Slovakia means that the chances of Poles for promotion to the knockout stage of Euro 2020 have drastically decreased. We will have a chance for rehabilitation on Saturday when in Seville at 21 we will play against the Spaniards.
