MPs do not have to submit additional orders or contracts for specific work to the presidium of the lower house (Sejm) of the parliament, “Gazeta Wyborcza,” a well-known Polish newspaper, has stated.
They will get a full salary anyway. “Agreements should be open so that it is possible to check whether there is a conflict of interest,” indicates the opposition.
According to the paper, the lawmakers learned about the changes in the applications for payment and salary from the information sent to their mailboxes.
“From the applications ... the provisions concerning the information by the MPs about their non-parliamentary activity and the income obtained from it have been removed,” the letter addressed to MPs seen by the daily notifies.
Before, MPs had to inform in writing about “all extra-parliamentary activities and income generated from them.” The request was open and could be rejected.
According to the new provisions, the only thing that an MP will have to do is inform the Sejm speaker about their “intention.”
According to opposition MPs, the new provision “may lead to abuses.”
