This year police have already imposed more than one billion zlotys in fines, reports 'Rzeczpospolita'. Most of them go to drivers.
The newspaper writes that in eight months the police imposed 3,171,000 fines, which is almost 250,000 fewer than during the same period last year. It means that motorists drive more regulated, but pay exceptionally high amounts for speeding.
The average fine levied by police officers this year was 317 zlotys, half as high as a year ago, according to information obtained by ‘Rzeczpospolita’ from the Tax Administration Chamber in Opole, which collects data on fines. A year ago, the amount was 144 zlotys.
