Polish animation to fight for the Oscar

‘Acid Rain’, a film made by the Animoon studio from Warsaw, will apply for a gold statuette of the American Academy of Film and Arts. The 26-minute animation directed by Tomek Popakul has so far been shown at 50 film festivals around the world and has won 14 awards. Currently, it is distributed in American cinemas.
“It is displayed there along with six competing short animations. This is a huge success because short films rarely hit the silver screen,” Grzegorz Wacławek, creator of creative animation and president of Animoon studio, said
Made in 2D and 3D technology, the film tells the story of a girl who runs away from home. She meets the mysterious Skinny, a freak living in a camper, who apparently lives at odds with the law. Together with him, she escapes from everyday life into the world of alternative and drug reality.
