Polish film on the Oscar-winning long list
'Leave No Traces' by Jan P. Matuszyński was on the Oscar-winning long list of the American Film Academy. The list of titles submitted by 93 countries for the 94th Academy Awards in the category of the best international full-length film was published on the website of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The world premiere of Jan P. Matuszyński's film took place in September this year, during the festival in Venice. Based on a report by Cezary Łazarewicz, it is a story about the high school graduate Grzegorz Przemyk, son of the opposition poet Barbara Sadowska, who in May 1983 was badly beaten by police officers and died a few days later.
In the category of the best international full-length film, the list also includes, among others, the Swedish-Icelandic-Polish co-production of "Lamb" by Valdimar Johannsson.
The Oscar-winning shortlist will be announced on December 21st. The titles of the films nominated for the awards will be announced on February 8, 2022. The awards gala will be held on March 27, 2022, at the Hollywood Dolby Theater.
