It was announced in Kyiv yesterday that the formation of the first Polish special unit under the Ukrainian Defense Ministry is beginning. The Poles are to perform reconnaissance and diversionary tasks, and the most experienced soldiers, including volunteers already fighting against Russia, are to be placed in it.
The Polish unit is not to be part of the International Legion for Territorial Defense of Ukraine, in which Polish volunteers have so far fought together with volunteers from other countries at the front. Indeed, it is to be a special unit independent of that Legion, reporting directly to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Russia's war with Ukraine is now on its 359th day. According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, a total of 139,770 enemy soldiers have been killed in it.
