Polish Vodka under protection in China
The European Union and China have completed negotiations on a bilateral agreement to protect 100 European geographical indications in China and 100 Chinese geographical indications in the EU against counterfeiting and appropriation. It is expected that this ground-breaking agreement will bring mutual commercial benefits and increased demand for high-quality products from both markets.
Polish Vodka will be among the EU geographical indications that will be protected in the Chinese market. It will be the only Polish label protected in China.
China is the second-most-popular destination when it comes to EU’s agri-food exports, whose value amounts to €12.8 billion (data for the September 2018 - August 2019 period). For comparison, the value of Polish exports from this sector to the People’s Republic of China amounted to €101 million in 2017.
Of the 100 EU products that will be protected, the most come from Italy (26), France (25) and Spain (12).
