Portugal's National Cybersecurity Center (CNCS) did not object to the cooperation of state institutions and companies operating in the country with Chinese telecommunications companies such as Huawei. Washington is pushing for Lisbon not to cooperate with Chinese companies in the 5G technology due to suspicions of espionage.
The Portuguese newspaper "Diario de Noticias" revealed on Thursday the position of CNCS authorities stating that Huawei and other Chinese companies cannot be discriminated in relation to their country of origin. CNCS added that Huawei is not a "greater danger" than other companies outside the European Union that would like to develop 5G technology.
