Progress on subway line to reach supernode nearing finish in Warsaw
Warsaw is nearing completion of a major underground tram project beneath Dworzec Zachodni, designed as a transport hub connecting rail and tram systems. The 1.6 km route will run two levels below ground, allowing passengers to transfer directly from trains to trams. A 600 meter tunnel is almost finished, with breakthrough works expected soon. Construction should end by late 2026, followed by testing, with service likely starting in early 2027. The project is significantly delayed from its original 2022 to 2023 timeline due to coordination with station upgrades and tender issues.
Once completed, it will improve connectivity toward Ochota and later potentially extend to Wola.
