Residential building permits rose 11.9%
The number of dwellings for which building permits were issued, or which were submitted for registration with a construction design, rose by 11.9% y/y to 30,037 in June, and was up by 1.2% m/m, the Central Statistics Office (GUS) has announced.
Investors building for sale or rent obtained 18,054 permits last month (up 7.9% y/y and up 3.2% m/m), the CSO also reported.
“In the first half of 2021, permits were issued or construction notifications were made for 171,500 dwellings, 40.2% more than in the same period of 2020. Construction permits for the largest number of dwellings were granted to developers (109.1 thousand, up 46.9% y/y) and individual investors (60.4 thousand, up 28.9%). In total, in these forms of construction, permits were obtained or notification of construction with a construction design was submitted for 98.8% of the total number of dwellings. In the remaining forms of construction, 2,015 dwellings for which permits were granted or notifications of construction with a construction design were submitted (1,221 dwellings in the previous year) were noted" the announcement reads.
