Russia’s Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreyev gave an interview to Russian press agency TASS on the 9th anniversary of the Smoleńsk plane crash that killed Polish President Lech Kaczyński and 95 others. “Claims regarding the behavior of Russian authorities after this disaster are unfounded,” he said. He cited Polish investigators’ continued inquiries as the reason for the failure to complete the Russian investigation into the crash.
In the extensive interview Andreyev also focused on the current relations between Russia and Poland, rejecting the accusations that the Russian side is not willing to improve them. He accused mainstream Polish media of conducting “a fierce anti-Russian campaign” when it comes to such issues as the Nord Stream 2 project and the strengthening of NATO and US military presence in Poland.
