Sale of mortgages not slowing down
Poland's mortgage lending remains strong, with banks and credit unions signing over 216 thousand agreements worth PLN 102.45 bln from January through August. In August alone, mortgage value rose 51% y/y to PLN 13.54 bln, and the number of loans grew over 41%. The average mortgage hit a record PLN 489 thousand, and refinancing now accounts for nearly a third of new lending. BIK analyst Waldemar Rogowski expects annual growth rates to slow gradually because of a high 2025 base.
Installment loans rose 22% to PLN 2.48 bln, though the average amount fell over 16%. Cash loans averaged PLN 27,560, up 8.8%, with debt consolidation making up nearly 60% of their value.
