The Sosnowiec local government chose the most advantageous offer for the construction of the Exotarium Ecological Education Center,said city president Arkadiusz Chęciński on Friday. It amounts to nearly PLN 64 million gross, with a budget of PLN 60.1 million assumed in the tender.

The city presents the construction of a new Exotarium as one of the most awaited investments. The facility, the construction of which has been scheduled for two years after signing the contract, is to be educational functions.

The partially glazed building has exhibitions devoted to native environments, the Mediterranean, desert and Amazon rainforest. The pools are to present the water flowing through Sosnowiec by the Przemsza River, as well as the Amazon River, Lake Malawi and the Mississippi River Basin.

A mini-cinema and two classrooms equipped with computers, microscopes, multimedia systems, etc. are also to be created in the Exotarium. They have been designed to change into a lecture hall for 100 people with a view of tropical plants and animals in the palm house by removing the wall. The area around the Ecological Education Center has been designed as four interconnecting zones: entrance, education and recreation, zone with aviaries and a park.

"We managed to settle the tender today. The most advantageous offer was made by a consortium of Mostostal Zabrze GPBP and Maximus. The price is almost PLN 64 million, funding - PLN 12 million. I think it will be a fantastic place for the inhabitants of the entire region," Sosnowiec's president said.

The new building for the Sosnowiec Exotarium is part of the EU project, which also includes the development of the area of ​​the Millennium Park at ul. Baczyńskiego.
