The first-ever woman from Asia elected as CIMA President

Melanie Janine Kanaka has been elected as the 89th President of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the world's largest organization of management accounting professionals. She will also serve as Co-President of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).
During her one-year term, Melanie will focus on strengthening the role of finance professionals as trusted advisors to organizations and engaging them in service to the public interest. In addition, she will advocate for continuous skill enhancement, including digital competency development and retraining, so that the finance and accounting profession can meet the ever-changing demands of the marketplace.
"Over the past few years, the finance profession has provided tremendous support and guidance to organizations to help them survive, adapt, and thrive in a reality that has irreversibly changed. As the world continues to undergo a radical, disruptive change at an accelerating pace, we as professionals must present a new kind of bold leadership," Melanie Kanaka said.
