Within a few years, the Top Woman in Real Estate awards have become a brand for independent women in the real estate industry who are not afraid of challenges and are able to support each other. During the ceremonial gala that took place on September 26-27, the title of Personality of the Year was awarded to Katarzyna Zawodna-Bijoch (Skanska), while Sandra Wróblewska (Kajima Poland) won the Internet voting for Top Woman in Real Estate.

“In the current turbulent times, managing companies requires extreme flexibility. Quick adaptation to changes, multi-threading and emotional intelligence are typical features of women. That is why their activity in management boards, teams and global projects is extremely valuable today," Krystyna Swojak, organizer and originator of the Top Woman in Real Estate initiative, commented.

Women support women

This year's competition is the third edition of the event, which attracts more participants every year. The prestige of the title helps women to meet new challenges and builds self-confidence. This year, the statuettes were awarded in 18 categories, two of which went to companies. Colliers International was awarded the title of Pro-women Company, while Greenberg Traurig Poland was awarded the title of Best Team for the real estate team managed by Jolanta Nowakowska-Zimoch.

“Teams should be such that both women and men feel good in them and want to work together. Women are more discerning about the other side and have less trouble admitting that they were wrong. Promoting specific women is needed due to the still existing difficulties resulting from our own limitations, upbringing and tradition,” Jolanta Nowakowska-Zimoch from Greenberg Traurig, commented.

The awards for the personality of 2019 deserve special attention. Ms Katarzyna Zawodna-Bijoch (election of the program board) and Sandra Wróblewska (choice of Internet users) were recognized as the most influential, recognizable, respected and creative women in the real estate world of the past year.

“Supporting and promoting women in business is part of caring for diversity. Diverse teams do better in a complex business reality, so diversity just pays off. However, as long as women remain in the minority, they will need support and mentors on their career path. I am glad that a forum for this has been established in Poland. I support Top Woman in Real Estate with all my heart," Katarzyna Zawodna, President of Skanska Commercial Development Europe, said.

The new categories were also interesting: Banking & Finance and Tax & Accounting Services, the winners of which were in the following order: Anna Tomaszewska and Justyna Bauta-Szostak. The addition of new honors for the financial industry shows how large the share of science-minded women is in global real estate projects. They share talent, assertiveness and broad knowledge that they want and are able to share with their teams on a daily basis.

“I think the road to the top for both women and men is exactly the same. It requires a lot of commitment, work, constant self-improvement, ambition, clear goals, but most of all - the right people around. I want my team to know that this distinction is for us, because I would not be in the place where I am today, if not for the people with whom I have great pleasure to work," Barbara Topolska, country manager of CPI Property Group Poland, winner of the Top Management category, said.

PLN 28,000 for Polish hospitals
This year's gala, organized in the Villa Foksal in Warsaw, had an unusual character. The event was split into two days to ensure the safety of participants. After the award ceremony, led by Krystyna Swojak Managing Director of the Top Woman in Real Estate competition and Wojciech Szeląg, presenter of Polsat Television, the guests heard the performance of the artist who lives in London - Octavia Kay (http://www.octaviakay.com/)

The special attraction of the evening was the recital of Partycja Piekutowska, a world-famous violinist, president of the K.I.D.S. - Club of Innovators of Children's Hospitals. K.I.D.S. introduces solutions that increase the comfort of work of medical personnel, reduce stress in patients and allow for faster hospital procedures. Two recitals by Patrycja Piekutowska for solo violin with the artist's entertaining repertoire from the album My Journey and two handmade ceramic bowls were auctioned for the association. In total, PLN 28,400 was collected.

About the competition
Real estate is one of the fastest growing industries in Poland today. There are more and more women in it, especially in management positions. They enter the historically male-dominated sector because they offer competences that correspond to today's market requirements - they are flexible, ambitious, decisive, and at the same time they gain an advantage thanks to a greater willingness to share knowledge and help each other.

The leaders of the real estate market and representatives of key industry organizations such as Ladies First, WIREP and OSWBZ are actively involved in organizing the Top Women in Real Estate Competition. Participation in the Competition could be submitted in person, on behalf of a company or industry organization. The selection in each category was made by the Jury. There is also one category in which the decision belongs to the Program Council and one in which Internet users could vote.
The 37-person jury included representatives of the management boards of the largest real estate companies, both Polish and foreign, and was chaired by Agata Demuth from the Schoenherr law firm, who watched over the correct course of voting.

The Top Woman in Real Estate project is supported by companies that incorporate ideas and values in their corporations to promote and support the development of women in business. Thanks to them, the project can develop and deal with ever new areas of Real Estate. For the third time, Hillwood Polska was the strategic partner of the event, and the partners of the category include Capital Park, Ceetrus, Panattoni and Vistra.
