Total debt of TSL industry increased by 19% y/y to PLN 1.59 bln in April

As of April 2025, the total debt of Poland’s transport, shipping, and logistics (TSL) sector reached PLN 1.59 billion, a 19% increase y/y, according to data from the National Debt Register (KRD). The road freight segment accounts for PLN 1.26 billion of this debt, involving 23,000 of the 31,700 indebted companies in the sector. Contributing factors include high labor and fuel costs, payment delays (up to 60 days), toll increases, and regulatory burdens such as the EU Mobility Package.
Restructuring and bankruptcy cases are also rising. Most debt stems from sole proprietorships, especially in Mazowieckie. TSL companies also owe money within their own sector, with internal debts totaling over PLN 63 million.
