UK airports set to introduce new 3D scanners

UK airports prepare for the introduction of the latest generation of 3D scanning equipment. The new scanners at airports are to eliminate the need to remove electronics and liquids from hand luggage, and thus speed up security checks and reduce queues. All major UK airports must introduce 3D baggage screening equipment before the end of 2022, the government says. The equipment, similar to CT scanners used in hospitals, is already being installed at London's Heathrow Airport and will be gradually introduced by other UK airports.
