President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zełenski asked the US to intensify sanctions against Russia, his administration said after talks with representatives of the United States who had come to his inauguration in Kiev. Zełenski met with Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, Washington’s special envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker and Senator Ron Johnson. During the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine, which was held on April 21, Zełenski got 73.22 percent of the votes, defeating the former President Petro Poroshenko (who received 24.45 percent of the votes).
