Agricultural drought still occurs and the water balance is again negative, informed the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG).
"In the eighth reporting period, i.e. from June 1 to July 31, 2020, the average value of the Climatic Water Balance (CWB), on the basis of which the assessment of drought risk is made, was negative, equal to minus 20 mm. In the analyzed period, the CWB value decreased by 48 mm compared to the previous period (May 21 - July 20)," IUNG warned.
"As a result of the existing humidity conditions in the current reporting period, we are finding agricultural droughts in Poland," Institute added.
Agricultural drought occurs in 10 out of 16 voivodeships and affects the vast majority of the current crops.
