Banks post record profits
Poland’s banking sector delivered robust results in 2025, helped by stronger revenues and fewer loan impairments. Net profit for the January–December period reached PLN 48.7 billion, up 21.54% year on year, according to the National Bank of Poland.
Total net operating revenues climbed 6.54% to PLN 138.78 billion, reflecting solid lending activity and stable margins. At the same time, banks contained credit risk, with write-offs and impairment charges falling 6.96% to PLN 5.64 billion, supporting bottom-line growth.
Costs, however, continued to rise. Administrative expenses increased 7.86% compared with the previous year, reaching PLN 55.05 billion, partly offsetting gains from higher income and lower provisions.
Overall, the combination of stronger revenues and reduced credit losses enabled the sector to post one of its highest annual profits on record, underscoring improved balance sheets and resilience despite a more demanding operating environment.
