Defence fund names 41 Polish firms
The Polish government published its first official list of companies designated as beneficiaries of the EU SAFE programme — the defence financing instrument under which Poland, the first EU member state to sign a loan agreement with the European Commission, can access up to €43.7 billion. Some 41 companies appear on the government's dedicated SAFE website, including Warsaw Stock Exchange-listed Creotech Instruments (space technology), Cognor Holding (steel) and Lubawa (military textiles), alongside unlisted WB Electronics and Ponar Wadowice, both tipped as future IPO candidates. Shares in Cognor surged over 5% and Creotech gained 3% on the news. The government has pledged to finalise at least 40 contracts with domestic producers within SAFE's first phase by end-May, with an initial advance of around PLN 27.5 billion expected imminently.
