The construction permit for 18 km of expressway S19, part of the Via Carpathia international route, was issued on Friday by Przemysław Czarnek, voivode of Lublin.
The construction of the Lublin-Kraśnik section of the S19 expressway has been divided into three parts, with a total length of 42 km. Agreements with contractors were signed in February last year. The total construction cost of this part of the future Via Carpathia route is over PLN 1.1 billion.
The S19 expressway is to become the main communication north-south route in the eastern part of Poland and form part of the Via Carpathia international route, which is to run from Klaipeda and Kaunas in Lithuania through Białystok, Lublin, Rzeszów and Slovak Košice to Debrecen in Hungary, and then to Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.
