Outflows from emerging market funds amounted to $1.5 bln – Credit Suisse

Net outflows from emerging markets in the week ending October 9 were $1.5 billion, Credit Suisse analysts said in a report. According to their calculations, net redemptions in emerging market equity funds have been $34 billion since the beginning of the year.

“Emerging market equity funds recorded net outflows of $1.5 billion in the week ending October 9, which mainly consisted of outflows from Asian funds (-$900 million),” Alex Redman, Credit Suisse analyst, wrote.

According to his calculations, net outflows have been $34 billion since the beginning of the year, of which $26.2 billion was allocated to active management funds and $7.7 billion to passive funds.
