PLN 17 mln for renovation of Henry Orenstein's tenement house
Hrubieszów has secured PLN 17 million in funding to renovate a historic 19th-century building at Freedom Square 8, part of a broader PLN 80 million Swiss-funded program. The restored site will house a Creative Center for Education and Business Cooperation, supporting entrepreneurs with training, workshops, and advisory services. The project aims to foster entrepreneurship, especially among young people, with completion planned for March 2029.
The building has symbolic value as the former home of Henry Orenstein, a Holocaust survivor, toy industry pioneer behind Transformers, philanthropist, and poker innovator. Inspired by his legacy, the city plans a Transformer statue and themed trail.
