Poles open more brokerage accounts during pandemic

During the crisis related to the pandemic, individual investors began to open more brokerage accounts, and their share in the main market turnover increased to 22 percent from 12 percent a year ago, the president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Marek Dietl, announced on Friday during a panel at the Polska Wielki Projekt congress.
"During the crisis, in March alone, Poles opened over 60,000 new brokerage accounts. It was the first time, as far as I remember, that individual investors entered the market at a good time, because from March to today they have earned 60-70 percent of their share price," the head of the WSE said.
He added that the share of individual investors in trading in financial instruments on the main WSE market increased to 22 percent.
