PZU again offering insurance for transports into Ukraine
Geopolitical risk has become the top concern for 65% of companies surveyed by Allianz Trade, replacing supply chain problems. Insurers are responding: PZU has reintroduced coverage for shipments to Ukraine, while export credit insurer KUKE is pricing war-related risks. Such insurance can help companies secure contracts and financing, but premiums range from fractions of a per mille to several per mille of the insured property’s value, depending on location and risk.
Credit insurance is already widely used in Poland. In 2025, businesses spent about PLN 1 bln on this protection, covering roughly PLN 1 bln in turnover. Experts say firms must prepare for overlapping crises, including war, tariffs, sanctions, blocked payments, and possible expropriation. They caution that geopolitical risk should not become an excuse for weak business decisions.
