The value of the online currency exchange market reaches PLN 60 bln
What is the value of the online exchange market in Poland today and what events influenced the currency market in 2021? Currency One experts have prepared a report summarizing these issues and the past year. They estimate the entire internet exchange industry at around PLN 60 billion.
2021 was a record year for Currency One's currency exchange services. InternetowyKantor.pl and Walutomat recorded a record turnover, recording double-digit growth y/y. This result was mainly influenced by the situation in the markets, caused by large fluctuations in exchange rates related to, among others, a pandemic, but also the development of the websites themselves and new services introduced for customers.
"It is worth recalling that last year we implemented, inter alia, new currencies in Walutomat, there was also a development of mobile applications. Our euro instant transfer services, SEPA Instant, have also brought a small revolution to the market when it comes to this method of cross-border transfers. We are the first Polish institution, and so far the only one that has introduced this possibility,” Maciej Przygórzewski, head of the Operations Department at Currency One, said.
