Dublin airport shortly suspended flights on Thursday due to drone sighting over the airfield. A pilot reported a drone sighting to the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), which operates air traffic control at Dublin Airport, at about 11.30 am local time. In about 30 minutes the airport said that flight operations resumed and apologized for the inconvenience.
It is illegal to fly drones within five kilometers of an airport in Ireland. Three flights were diverted due to the suspension.
In December last year, London's Gatwick airport suspended operations for one day and a half because of the flying of drones. The incident affected over 140,000 passengers.
