The Lewiatan Confederation estimates that the proposals of the Ministry of Energy included in the draft amendment to the Biofuels Act are beneficial and will help fuel companies meet their obligations to add biocomponents to fuels. The amendment sets the National Indicative Target for 2020-2022, which specifies the share of biofuels in the consumption of fuels used in transport. The targets for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 are 8.5 percent, 8.6 percent and 8.7 percent respectively. From 2020, biocomponents obtained in the process of so-called co-hydrogenation will be acceptable. PKN Orlen and Lotos, which plan investments in the co-hydrogenation technology, are expected to benefit the most from the new regulations.
