As Piotr Arak, director of the Polish Economic Institute (PIE) noted on Twitter, Poland is the third largest industrial employment force in the EU. The Polish industry employs as many as 4 million workers, while the German - 8.3 million and the Italian - 4.3 million. All other Member States are lagging behind - France, next on the list, boasts 2.9 million industrial workers, and the fifth, Spain - 2.2 million.
Unfortunately, the joy is spoiled by the fact that employment in mining is classified as employment in industry - so there is nothing to brag about.
The more so because - as other Twitter users note - less employment in the industry also means automation and better production lines. Besides, modern, innovative economies are rather driven by the service sector.
