Germany is failing to fulfill its role as the leading power in European security policy, which is why Warsaw seeks to replace Berlin in this capacity. Prime Minister Donald Tusk, while seeking talks with European allies, has been excluding Germany, which is not necessarily an affront to Berlin, according to "Sueddeutsche Zeitung."
Poland, due to its geographical proximity to Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, has a unique responsibility in European security. Tusk argues that Poland should play a leading role in this area, especially with the uncertainty surrounding the future US presidency under Donald Trump.
This shift could also help Tusk's domestic political agenda as he prepares for the 2025 EU presidency.
