From April 1st, ZUS will use the new life expectancy table from GUS when calculating future pensions. This change will result in a 3.7% decrease in pensions for 60-year-olds and a 4.1% decrease for 65-year-olds compared to calculations based on the previous table. The new GUS table indicates increased life expectancy across all age groups. For instance, a 30-year-old is expected to live 12.7 months longer than in the previous year's statistics. ZUS spokesperson Paweł Żebrowski clarified that the table is crucial for pension calculations, and individuals nearing retirement age need not rush to apply for pensions to benefit from the current table.
Adjustments will be made for those who continued working post-retirement, but the new table will only affect additional contributions, not the entire pension sum.
