FDI reach PLN 140 bln in 2022, 25% increases y/y - NBP

In 2022, Poland experienced a 25% increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow, totaling PLN 140.3 billion, as reported by the National Bank of Poland. This surge was driven by reinvested profits, debt instrument transactions, and equity acquisitions. The FDI inflow represented 4.6% of the country's GDP. Notably, foreign-capital companies exhibited strong financial results, emphasizing the significance of reinvested profits over new capital transfers.
The Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany were the major contributors to the capital influx. Additionally, Polish direct investments abroad demonstrated a positive transaction balance of PLN 28.2 billion, with the highest net receivables recorded at PLN 130.5 billion.
